Frank is Lauren’s beloved grandfather and she created the work for her own personal collection.

The portrait captures him wearing both his war medals and the French Legionne de Honeur which he was awarded for his contributions to The D-Day Landings.

This portrait is created with acrylic and silver and copper leaf.

Lauren wanted the medals to ‘pop’ from the rest of the painting. The leaf and imperfect shapes create some contrast and interest.
